VISUS is part of the VR Expo on the Vaihingen Campus of Uni Stuttgart. You can still drop by and see our VR/AR demos until tomorrow at noon. We have HoloLens demos, VR demos, and, of course, MegaMol running on our Powerwall. You can see the premiere of MegaMol rendering on Stampede2 at TACC with the result displayed on the Powerwall. This is the first development milestone of the in situ capabilities in MegaMol 1.3 RC2. A big thanks goes to the Intel IPCC program and TACC for the generous allocation for development and testing. Special thanks go to FARO for providing the 34 billion points dataset of Dischingen.

We are proud to announce MegaMol was part of the Intel Select Solution for Professional Visualization Launch! We had a demo running at the Intel booth on the ISC expo floor. The interactive visualization of 34 billion particles was streamed from render nodes located in Oregon, where another Select Solution machine was prepared to balance workload with the one in the expo. The data set was kindly provided by FARO and shows the church of Dischingen and surroundings.

We had a live MegaMol demo running the integrated OSPRay at the Intel booth of Supercomputing 2017. It showed a fluid simulation by our project partners Matthias Heinen and Prof. Jadran Vrabec from the Chair of Thermodynamics and Energy Technology at the University of Paderborn.
VISUS has recently been funded as the first Intel® PCC for Visualization in Europe! With this funding, we plan to integrate Software-Defined Visualization into MegaMol. That way, it will work on a wider range of hardware and easily scale to larger data set sizes. Combined with some other changes, the upcoming 1.3 release already contains OSPRay support for particle rendering, streamline rendering, and volume rendering. It will also be experimentally in situ capable. The Intel® PCC will also allow us to contribute some application-specific visualization approaches to OSPRay itself, which can then be used with the MegaMol-integrated OSPRay or the stand-alone viewers for high-quality large-scale results in the context of molecular visualization.
As those of you already working with the GitHub-based sources might already have noticed, a whole slew of updates has been pushed to the public MegaMol repository. The current release candidate already contains some of the new features we have been working on the last couple of months, most notably OSPRay integration, an all-new animation interface, the start of us phasing out all XML-based technology and replacing it with Lua, and much more. Expect more posts about the new functionality as the release final is approaching!
The new website of MegaMol is now live, but not yet linked to megamol.org. This fresh start gives us the opportunity to structure information about MegaMol in a clearer way than on the legacy website. Please note that this site is still not finished.
